While the BlackBerry PlayBook has some amazing games available for our enjoyment, many being released this past year, BlackBerry products are still ultimately synonymous with productivity and business. With the launch of the PlayBook in 2011, a whole slew of useful productivity apps appeared in App World. Most PlayBook users can’t live without Files and Folders, Blaq, Conqu, GeeReader, Evernote and Box. These productivity apps have helped us all stay on top of our business and personal lives this past year. While 2012 may have not lived up to our hopes in the productivity apps category, (seriously why are we still without an awesome PDF annotator?!) Splashtop was a much-anticipated release in 2012. Splashtop lets you have remote access to your personal computer. With Splashtop you can launch any program that’s on your PC such as your Microsoft Office suite, Web Browser, Keynote, iPhoto or anything that you might have on your Mac or Windows PC. You can also play videos and audio through your media players. This app is by far the best of its kind for the PlayBook. It runs smoothly, is super simple to set up and is quite intuitive to use. With Splashtop you could truly have everything at your finger tips.
ReadOnTouch PRO by Sven Ziegler
ReadOnTouch Pro allows you to save content from the internet for later viewing on the PlayBook. This PlayBook app is amazing for your productivity as it allows you to control where and when you digest content from the internet. So, if you are trying to stay focused on a task and notice a link to an interesting article, you can save that article for later viewing so that you can remain on task. It can also be used to keep your commute productive as you will have access to saved articles despite the lack of internet connection. Additionally, your saved articles are presented without all the distractions of the internet such as pop-ups, ads and more attention-grabbing links so that you get what you need: the content. This PlayBook app is all about functionality; its design is simple and its easy-to-use. ReadOnTouch is one of the best PlayBook apps from 2012 because it has truly increased PlayBook users’ productivity by helping us maintain focus, reducing distractions and enhancing the PlayBook’s ability to provide important content on the go.
ProInsights by XLabz Technologies
In 2012, ProInsights revamped and jazzed up the way you use LinkedIn. ProInsights analyzes your LinkedIn account and then presents you with insights into your professional network through the use of stunning visuals. Antair Notes is a simple note taking app released for the PlayBook in 2012. The app allows you to create notes, search keywords, and spell check. What makes this app so functional is the email feature; you can turn your note into an email with the click of one button. That’s efficiency! This app runs smoothly and is so intuitive to use. No, its not Evernote (2011!) but it is the absolute best app if you need notepad capabilities on your PlayBook.
Meeting Minutes Pro by Sriman Apps
Meeting Minutes Pro is a tool for recording, tracking, and organizing your meetings. With this app you create meeting documents that include information on the topic, attendees, discussions and assignments related to that meeting. This information can then be exported into a variety of document types that layout all of the meeting’s information. This app has a simple user interface yet manages to provide rich functionality and features.
