Blackberry 10 is almost here and is only picking up momentum. In 37.5 hours, less than a two day period, RIM has received over 18,000 app submissions for Blackberry 10. Let’s not forget past port-athons also brought in another 15,000!! Recently developers have been urged to port their previously applications to the Blackberry 10 OS. Alec Saunders, vice president of developer relations has said that the influx in apps was partly due to their Portathon events focusing on the Blackberry 10 Community and also due to Android developers. In these events RIM offers developers $100 per approved app and for those who had several approved entries will receive the cash prize and a Blackberry 10 Dev Alpha device.
It’s going to take a little bit of time for Blackberry 10 to reach its iOS and Androids app level but with a strong start on launch it is expected that RIM will be a noble competitor in the game. Another move that is helping to reinsure BB10’s success is how compliant RIM has been with programming languages and other tools that developers use to create Android iOS. Porting from the Android is very easy. The 70,000 apps being released at launch could make history. Windows 8 another far improved OS launched with only 5,000 apps. Only time will tell for the Blackberry 10 but it looks like RIM is going all out and is doing what they can to offer quality product for its users.
